Volunteering holidays

It’s usually called volunteering holiday, is a widespread attitude among international activists and volunteers who spend part or all of their holidays in refuges around the world, helping with daily activities and contributing in various ways to lighten the difficult daily lives of those realities. Many years ago we asked ourselves why these people didn’t do the same thing with the Italian shelters, and after having found the answer this project unofficially started, or at least the one that was starting to take shape at an embryonic level…

What are the benefits of becoming a shelter volunteer?

Meeting new people who share the same ideas and sensitivity towards animals, learning basic aspects of animal welfare, helping animals to improve, when they wish, their co-relationship with humans and vice versa, learning various manual jobs, learning about specific environment and those who live in it on an animal and vegetal level, learning to live with animals without interpreting the relationship in a management and patriarchal way, learning to balance the nurturing portion with that of exchange.

Do I need a minimum number of volunteer hours?

Absolutely not. You can come even for just half a day to say hello and spend time with the animals. If you want to stay for a specific period, that’s fine too!

How do I become a volunteer?

The first step is informal: write us an email to animalidinessuno@gmail.com and explain your request. If we have the prerogatives to proceed we will respond by sending you a file to read and send back to us filled with your data.

Who can become a volunteer?

Anyone, as long as they are at least 18 years old. Minors can be accompanied by their family.

What type of activities can be done?

Taking the dogs for a walk, going with the dogs to the seaside, spending time with the dogs and other animals or with people, helping with the normal routine activities of the family home, various ordinary and extraordinary maintenance jobs, cleaning the spaces of the animals, accompanying us to the vet, helping us with deliveries or collections of materials, and many others.

If I live far away and can’t come, how can I still make my contribution?

If you are unable to physically come, you can still help the animals in the foster home in the following ways:

  • support activities through donations and long-distance adoptions
  • send us food (dry or wet for dogs and cats at the moment)
  • send us medicines (contact us at animalidinessuno@gmail.com)
  • organize food drives or other essential supplies on your behal
  • sponsor our animals for adoption by sharing them on your social networks.
  • offer a temporary stall for a specific animal up for adoption (contact us first animalidinessuno@gmail.com)

Where to stay overnight?

While waiting for the completion of the works, we will provide you with suggestions on some places to stay that we trust, as well as any information on travel, in case you are on foot.
